Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Tax-Wizard, including getting started, data import, troubleshooting, and billing.

๐Ÿš€ Getting Started

How does the Tax-wizard system work?

Tax-wizard is an automated, self-service platform. You simply upload your transaction history files (CSV, XML, or Excel) from your broker, and the system instantly processes them to generate the necessary tax reports (Anexo J, E, and G).

Do I need to wait for a manual report?

No. The process is instantaneous. As soon as your files are successfully processed, the complete tax reports are available for immediate download in your dashboard. You will not receive them via email.

Do you save my transaction data?

No. We process your files instantly and do not store them permanently to maintain your privacy and security.

How can I upload multiple files?

To upload multiple files, follow these steps:

On Windows:
1. Click on one of the files or folders you want to select.
2. Hold down the control key (Ctrl).
3. Click on the other files that you want to select while holding the control key.
4. Continue to hold down the control key until you select all the files you want.

On Mac:
1. Click on one of the files or folders you want to select.
2. Hold down the command or shift key.
3. Click on files that you want to select while holding the command or shift key.
4. Continue to hold down the command or shift key until you select all the files you want.

๐Ÿ“‚ Data Import & Broker Guides

Why does Tax-wizard require my full trading history, not just the current year's file?

To correctly calculate Capital Gains and ensure compliance with the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rule, we must know the exact Acquisition Value (purchase price) of every asset you sold this year. If you sold a stock in 2024 that was purchased in 2020, we need the 2020 file to find its original cost. Always upload your complete account history.

Which file format should I use for Trading 212?

Always use the Excel/CSV export, not the PDF. The PDF statement lacks the critical metadata needed to correctly distinguish special dividend types (like 'Return of Capital') from regular dividends, which can lead to misclassification.

What if my broker is not officially supported?

You can still use Tax-wizard. We provide a Generic Excel Template for you to structure your data into a format our system can read. Learn more here.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Troubleshooting

My dividend values differ slightly from my broker's totals.

Small discrepancies (a few cents) are generally due to rounding. The Tax Authority requires rounding to two decimal places per line item. Tax-wizard aligns with AT rules by rounding individual transactions before summing them, which may cause minor differences from your broker's lump-sum totals.

I'm getting an upload error.

This typically means the file is corrupted, invalid, or is in the wrong format. Download a fresh copy of the file directly from your broker and ensure you are using the exact file type specified in our guides.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Plans & Billing

What is the difference between the Normal and Business plans?

The Normal plan is limited to one or two taxpayers (suitable for individual or joint declarations). The Business plan has no limit on the number of taxpayers, making it ideal for accountants or corporate users.

Is the fee a one-time charge?

The fee covers the current fiscal year (e.g., 2026). You can use the service unlimited times for that specific tax year. Renewal is manual if you wish to use it next year.

What is your refund policy?

We offer refunds if our system cannot process your valid broker files due to an internal technical failure that we cannot resolve. We strive to troubleshoot all issues first before issuing a refund.
